Writing Competition
The Knocklyon Literary Festival Writing Competitions are now open for submissions until the 20th August. (Please adhere to the Terms and Conditions)
Entry is €5 per submission, and entries are invited through English and Irish.

Shortlisted writers will be invited to the award ceremony at Knocklyon Literary Festival.
- Winners will receive a free pass to all Knocklyon Literary Festival events, an inscribed trophy, and will have their work published on the Knocklyon Literary Festival website.
- Runners-up will receive a pass to a Knocklyon Literary Festival event of their choice, a certificate, and will have their work published on the Knocklyon Literary Festival website.
FICTION
Participants are invited to tell a story in 5OO words or less, on any theme.
Judge: Kathryn Crowley.
Kathryn Crowley retired from teaching to write and to teach creative writing from her home in Knocklyon. She writes short fiction and memoir. She has two published collections, 'Sweaters and Small Stuff' and 'Room for One More' with Emu Ink Publishing.
She has facilitated writing workshops with children and adults for a number of years and enjoys helping writers to find their writing voice.

POETRY
Participants are invited to submit a poem on any theme, of up to 30 lines.
Judge: Dr. Vincent Kenny
Dr Vincent Kenny's writing interests include all things Dublin, Joyce, Yeats, Beckett and Flann O’Brien as well as science writings, fact and fiction. He has published dozens of peer-reviewed articles and published books on travel, health and spiritual themes. Vincent has contributed to RTE Radio Drama and ‘Sunday Miscellany’ and written and presented original satirical pieces for the annual Flann O’Brien festival and subsequent publications. A professional member of the Irish Writers Centre, he has conrtributed to several writing, poetry and play-writing courses over the past number of years. His passion for poetry is focused particularly on metaphysical issues, artificial intelligence and global eco-environmental issues. Vincent has received several commendations for his poetry and inclusion in a recently published poetry anthology. His current focus is towards publishing a collection of prose and poetry this November, dealing with anthropogenic themes, scientific and ecological. Vincent’s work has emerged from his life experiences of travel and work in exotic and dangerous places in Africa, Asia and South America.
